How To Get A Job As An Expat In UAE – that will be the topic of today’s article.

Before introducing this article, if you are interested in our core services which are expat financial, insurance and mortgages, you can contact me here.

The best time to consider your financial situation is when you are moving to a new country.

Introduction

Getting a job as an expat in UAE can be a challenge, but with the right tools and resources, it can be done with ease. In fact, the UAE seems to be the last place people go to secure a job. This is due to the customs and traditions of the country compared to other Western countries.

However, one first thing you need to understand is the culture. The UAE is basically an Islamic nation, so you must respect their culture and customs while working. Besides, there are other things you need to do in order to increase your chances of getting a job.

Of course, you need to get your resume in order. Make sure to highlight all of your skills and work experience, as well as your education. If you have any certificates or other documents that can support your application, be sure to include them too. Also, it’s important to network with people who are already working in the UAE.

Now, ask yourself; are you working for a short period or full-time employment? After you might have decided what works best, there are a few necessary preparations you should do before your departure.

First, if you have not done so, get a travel visa and make sure it is valid for the entire duration of your stay in the UAE

Next, open a bank account in UAE so you can easily access your money while working there

Make copies of all important documents, including your passport, visa, and driver’s license. Keep the originals in a safe place.

Take some time to learn about the culture and dress appropriately for work. It is best not to stand out like a sore thumb and make sure to follow the country’s customs.

In addition, there are a few websites that can help you secure a job in the UAE.

UAE Jobs

Bayt Jobs

This website is a great resource for finding jobs in the Middle East. They have an extensive database of jobs, as well as resume tips and interview advice. You can also create a profile on Bayt.com to make it easier for employers to find you. This is why it is one of the most popular job websites in the UAE.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a social media platform that can be used to find jobs, as well as connect with employers and colleagues. It’s important to have a strong LinkedIn profile if you want to work in UAE. This includes having a quality photo, a complete profile, and a few recommendations from previous employers.

Why Is It Difficult To Get Jobs in the UAE

There are many reasons why it is difficult to get a job in the UAE. One reason is that there is a lot of competition for jobs in the UAE. Many people want to live and work in the UAE, so there are a lot of applicants for every job vacancy. This makes it difficult for people looking for jobs to get hired. Check out the reasons we’ve got for you!

Market Competition

The UAE is a rapidly growing economy with many opportunities for businesses and job seekers alike. However, with such an opportunity comes fierce competition. It can be difficult to stand out from the pack and notice potential employers. This can make it tough to snag a job in the UAE.

Limited Availability of Certain Jobs

Certain jobs are in high demand in the UAE, but few workers fill all positions. This can make it difficult for foreigners to get their foot in the door in certain industries. Aside from this fact, the UAE is also a very expensive place to live, and many companies are unwilling to pay high wages for employees who may only be in the country for a short period.

Language Barrier

The UAE is home to people from all over the world, and as such, there are many different languages spoken in the country. English is the most commonly spoken language, but it can be difficult for foreigners to find work if they do not have a good grasp of the language.

Cultural Differences

The UAE is a Muslim country, and as such, some cultural norms and values are upheld in the workplace. Foreigners may not be familiar with these cultural differences, leading to conflicts in the workplace. Additionally, many companies in the UAE prefer to hire locals instead of foreigners, as they feel that locals are more familiar with the country’s culture and norms.

Visa Restrictions

UAE visas are not easy to come by, and they can be difficult to renew. This can make it difficult for foreigners to stay in the country for an extended period, making it difficult to find a job. Also, many jobs in the UAE require that employees be sponsored by their employer, leading to visa restrictions.

Limited Work Opportunities for Women

The UAE is a patriarchal society, and as such, there are limited work opportunities for women. Most jobs in the UAE are available to men only, and many companies are unwilling to hire women due to cultural norms and values. This can make it difficult for foreign women to find work in the UAE.

Difficulty Obtaining Residency

Once a foreigner has been hired for a job in the UAE, they must apply for residency. This process can be difficult and time-consuming, and it can often take months or even years to be granted residency. This can make it difficult for foreigners to stay in the UAE long-term, leading to problems finding a job.

Limited Social Opportunities

The UAE is a very social country, and many people spend their weekends and evenings out at bars and nightclubs. This can be difficult for foreigners who do not have many friends. It can also be difficult to find activities outside of work, as most things in the UAE are geared towards locals.

High Cost of Living

The UAE is a very expensive place to live, and most expats find that they spend a large portion of their salary on living expenses. This can be difficult for foreigners who are not used to paying high prices for necessities. Also, the cost of living in the UAE tends to be higher than in other regions.

Limited Career Opportunities

The UAE is a young country, and many industries are still infancy. This can lead to limited career opportunities for foreigners looking to stay in the country long-term. Also, many of the larger companies in the UAE are unwilling to hire foreigners, as they feel that locals are more familiar with the culture and the business landscape.

Documents Required To Get Jobs in UAE

If you are looking for a job in the United Arab Emirates, you must provide certain documents to your potential employer. The documents required vary depending on your nationality and the type of job you seek, but some of the most common ones are listed below.

A Copy of Your Passport

This is probably the most important document you will need. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your intended stay in the UAE. Aside from this fact, your passport must also have at least two blank pages for visa stamps. This waives the requirement for a visa if you are only staying in the UAE for a short period.

A Copy of Your Emirates ID card

This is another important document, as it serves as your residence permit and identification card in the UAE. It must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your intended stay. Also, it is helpful to have a copy of your Emirates ID card if you need to renew your visa while in the UAE.

A Copy of Your University Degree or Diploma

This is required if you are seeking a job in a professional or managerial position. The copy must be attested by the UAE embassy or consulate in your home country. Also, your degree or diploma must be from a recognized institution. This means that you may not work in the UAE if you graduate from a university that the UAE government does not recognize.

A Copy of Your Employment Contract

This is required if you seek a position, not in a professional or managerial field. The copy must be attested by the UAE embassy or consulate in your home country. Moreover, the contract must be valid for at least two years. Not only is that, but the contract must also state that you will be working in the UAE for a minimum of two years.

A Medical Examination Report

This is required if you are seeking a job in the UAE and you are not from one of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The medical examination must be conducted by an approved panel of doctors in your home country. It is important to note that the UAE has strict health and safety regulations, so you will likely be required to undergo a medical examination even if you are from a GCC country.

A Copy of Your Criminal Record Check

This is required for all job applicants, regardless of nationality. An approved panel of police officers must conduct a criminal record check in your home country. In fact, some employers may even require a police clearance certificate, in addition to a criminal record check.

A Copy of Your Driver’s License

This is not required for all job applicants, but it can be helpful to have a copy if you are seeking a position that requires driving. Also, the UAE has very strict traffic laws, so you will likely need a driver’s license if you plan to drive in the country. Therefore, it is a good idea to have a copy of your driver’s license handy, just in case.

Overview of the Pros of Living in Dubai as an Expat

So you have decided to move to Dubai? You are not alone. Thousands of newcomers migrate to this emirate every year, lured by the promises of a better life and career prospects in an exotic land. The question is: “Why moving to Dubai?” This article should help you discern whether or not living here will be beneficial for you.

Dubai is a wonderful place to live. In fact, it has been voted as the best place in the Middle East for expats to live and work. However, this cannot guarantee that life here will be easy. If you are thinking of moving to Dubai and want to know more about how and why living in Dubai is worthwhile, read on.

A Better Quality Of Life

Dubai is blessed with a very mild climate; this makes it very pleasant to be outside most of the year-round, regardless of what time of day it is. Living in Dubai means never experiencing harsh cold winters or scorching hot summers you would encounter elsewhere in the Middle East, for example, Saudi Arabia. The cost of living in Dubai is also lower than in other major global cities such as London, Paris and New York.

Tax-Free Living

One of the major benefits of living in Dubai is that expats can enjoy a tax-free lifestyle. This means that you do not have to worry about paying income tax, wealth tax, or any other form of tax that can be imposed on you when you are outside your home country. This feature makes Dubai an attractive destination for expatriates in the Middle East and worldwide.

Better Job Opportunities

Another major reason to move to Dubai is better career opportunities in job openings, higher wages, and work-life balance. Dubai is home to many multinational corporations and offers a wide range of job opportunities for expats in various industries. The cost of living in Dubai is also lower than in other major global cities such as London, Paris, and New York.

Improved Standard of Living

Thanks to the oil boom of the 1970s, Dubai has managed to develop and improve its standard of living rapidly. New infrastructure and state-of-the-art amenities have been built, making Dubai a desirable place to live. In addition, the government offers numerous incentives to expats, such as free housing and healthcare.

Plenty of Activities and Events to Enjoy

Dubai is an extremely vibrant and lively city with plenty of activities and events to keep you entertained. From shopping at the world’s largest malls to enjoy a luxurious dinner at one of Dubai’s fine restaurants, there is always something to do in this city. Some many cultural events and festivals take place throughout the year, so you will never get bored living here.

Safe and Secure

Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. It has a very low crime rate, and you can walk around freely at all hours of the day or night without feeling threatened. The UAE also has strict laws against any form of criminal activity, so you do not have to worry about safety if you are thinking of moving to Dubai.

Endless Adventures and Excursions to Explore

As the saying goes, “the world is your oyster.” And this is definitely true when it comes to Dubai. With its proximity to other countries in the region, such as Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, there are endless adventures and excursions to explore. All you need to do is board a plane, and in just one hour, you can be on the other side of the world exploring another culture.

Best Areas and Suburbs in Dubai

When it comes to finding a place to live in Dubai, there are plenty of options to choose from. However, not all areas and suburbs are created equal. Here is a list of the best areas and suburbs in Dubai:

Downtown Dubai

Frequently Asked Questions about Living in Dubai

How expensive is it to live in Dubai?

Dubai is known as one of the most expensive places in the world to live. However, Dubai does offer a wide variety of housing choices which include high rises (apartments), villas, and townhouses. So depending on your budget and whether you want to rent or buy, costs will vary.

A three-bedroom apartment inside the Palm Jumeirah starts at around AED 235,000 per annum to rent, while a studio apartment in the same area will set you back AED 95,000. Villas on the Palm can go for as much as AED 1 million per annum to rent.

What is the Cost of Living in Dubai?

Again this depends on which housing option you choose. For example, getting your groceries from local supermarkets or stores will set you back about AED 100 per week for a family of four. Renting an apartment in this same neighborhood would cost around AED 2,000 per month.

What is the Weather Like in Dubai?

Dubai has a hot desert climate with high humidity levels. Summer temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius, and winter temperatures can drop to around 10 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is rare but typically happens in the winter months.

Conclusion

Dubai is an attractive place for expats due to its favorable weather, tax-free lifestyle, great job opportunities, and endless adventures. So if you are thinking of moving here, be assured that you will not be disappointed. Nonetheless, refer to this platform for more tips and guides.

Best pre-school and nurseries in Dubai part 2 – Part one is here.

Preschool and nurseries in Dubai

Below are the ones that expat parents in Dubai mention the most and remember that they almost always work Sunday through Thursday.

Some kindergartens accept babies from 3 months old, although most prefer to accept babies from 12 months. Tuition fees and times vary greatly from school to school. Usually, kindergartens are open four or five hours, although some offer early morning and later evenings. Some have lunch and summer classes.

However, the only way to properly know about the school is to visit it. The most popular newsrooms – in true Dubai style – have long lines. The ones in Jumeirah and Umm Sukiem are especially popular because they are the oldest; it doesn’t always mean better, but it does mean that people know more about them and have more basis for their opinion.

The Children’s Garden Green Community

The nursery was started in 2005 by Birgit Ertl in cooperation with the Talim education group from the UAE. It is the first truly bilingual school in Dubai, currently enrolling over 600 children from over 50 nationalities in two schools, one of which is in Al Barsha.

This multilingual preschool provides a caring, friendly and fun environment for children 2-6 years old in Dubai at Dubai Investments Park and Al Barsha 2. Based here in Dubai in 2005 they are registered with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

They believe that the happiness of the children is vital. They need time to grow up in a holistic environment that encourages and supports them to make informed choices from hundreds of activities in a carefully prepared environment. TCG children become experts in managing their learning and become part of the global community.

The caring, homely and creative environment not only offers a gentle introduction to social life outside the family but also helps every child develop independence and fulfill their potential.

Dovecote Nursery School

Dovecote Nursery is a high-quality kindergarten offering first class education for children under 3 years old. Dovecote is a UK-managed nursery that follows the EYFS curriculum.

Dovecote prepares your child for early school age, making them confident and independent learners. They provide a comprehensive environment with highly trained staff trained to deliver the high standard of care you expect to find in UK accredited nurseries.

They recognize that parents are the first and most persistent educators and educators of their children.

The school’s goal is to work closely with parents to complement their childcare approach, in particular, to help children learn new skills such as toilet training, reading, and writing. The closer the parent and nursery teamwork in partnership, the more benefit the child will receive in the nursery.

Dovecote Nursery strives to be a leader in high-quality and progressive childcare. They will create a warm, friendly, and happy environment in which each child is encouraged to reach their full potential through praise, sensitivity, and mutual respect.

The nursery door is always open to all parents and guardians. Parents will also be invited to regular parent-teacher meetings to discuss their child’s progress. At the end of each day, parents will receive a Daily Diary containing a summary of what their child ate, how long they slept, and other important information. They also capture key moments of the child’s day to share with the family.

Emirates British Nursery

Emirates British Nursery was founded in Dubai in 2000. Since then, the nursery has grown and developed, but the basic principle of providing the highest quality childcare and early childhood education remains true.

They have grown to four first-class nurseries throughout Dubai, located in Mirdif, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and our newest Villa branch.

At Emirates British Nursery, they follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) system in line with the UK National Curriculum. With a strong focus on creating a positive and safe environment in which both children and staff can thrive, Emirates British Nursery maintains a strong sense of community. They are happy to join you and your child on their educational journey.

As an outstanding group of kindergartens, the school strives to provide all children with an Education Fund, a Life Fund.

The school tries to be the best preschool education and childcare provider in Dubai and UAE, to set quality standards in teaching and educating young children in Dubai and the UAE, and to prepare the foundation for young children to become responsible global citizens.

Jumeirah International Nursery Al Safa

The Jumeirah International Nurseries (JINS) network of kindergartens, owned by the Fortes Education Group (which primarily operates Regent and Sunmarke schools), consists of three subsidiaries – Downtown, Sunmarke, and Al Safa. We visit the Al Safa branch to find out what’s new in this long-established and well-known nursery.

JINS Al Safa is located just behind Jumeirah Primary School, making it a convenient option for parents with older children in school. It is also conveniently located at Jumeirah English School, Emirates English School, and Safa British School.

The street is mostly residential, with street parking and an adjoining open sandy parking lot. The nursery is located in a large former residential villa with a very spacious area and several outbuildings that serve different purposes.

Upon arrival at the nursery, the atmosphere is calm and well organized and we are greeted by two friendly office staff. Then we are introduced to Samina Hayari, General Manager of the Fortes Nursery Group and Acting Head of JINS Al Safa.

Samina started her kindergarten career at JINS as a teacher, then moved on to FS1’s classroom teacher, kindergarten manager, and now to the group general manager. Samina is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education and Leadership. Samina tells our reviewer that she really enjoys the emphasis on innovation and best practice that this qualification supports.

Little Land Nursery

A small land nursery was established in 2006; since then it has earned a name and fame in a short period of its existence. It has 3 branches in Faih. The center is well equipped with modern equipment and an ideal infrastructure, which is distinguished by a high degree of security.

Little Land Kindergarten and Montessori Center have International Baccalaureate (IB) World School status.

They value their hard-earned reputation for quality, high standards, and pedagogical leadership. They achieve their goals by working with partners and actively involving stakeholders, especially teachers.

They promote intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an integral part of life in the 21st century.

Best pre-school and nurseries in Dubai part 1 – that will be the topic of today’s article.

Before introducing this article, if you are interested in our core services which are expat financial, insurance and mortgages, you can contact me here.

The best time to consider your financial situation is when you are moving to a new country.

Introduction

The state of the United Arab Emirates, UAE, is located on the shores of the Persian Gulf. There are large oil fields in the country. This, thanks to the correct policy of the authorities, provides the region with a luxurious and prosperous life. A huge number of tourists come here to see the Arab miracle. The center of tourism of the Emirates is the city of Dubai.

Something interesting is constantly happening here: unusual ultra-modern structures are being built, artificial snow resorts are being erected, tall skyscrapers appear. The flow of those wishing to see paradise and live in it does not end.

But it’s not that simple. The beautiful carefree life in the region has both positive and negative aspects. Sometimes, the opinions of people who have visited the country are diametrically opposed. Someone talks about it with enthusiasm, someone with hostility, others try to give an objective assessment.

This article aims to show the good as well as the bad side of how foreign citizens live in the UAE. After we will discuss the best preschool and nurseries in Dubai, that can be a good option for expat kids. After all, a beautiful outer cover sometimes hides a lot of flaws. To avoid such surprises and have an idea of life in the country, you should familiarize yourself with the facts below. As usual in old parables, let’s start with the good news.

The main pros of living in the UAE

What attracts people to the UAE

Economic stability. Actually, this is one of the main features, that ensures a good quality life in the region. Prices do not jump, which is due to the constant exchange rate of the local currency over the years. A loyal tax policy is aimed at the inflow of foreign capital, moreover, these are the constant investments and jobs, that play an important role for economic progress.

Ample opportunities. More than 9 million people live on the territory of the state. 70% of them are foreigners. The indigenous people hardly work, so there are great prospects for foreign workers. Top-tier specialists receive high salaries. For people full of energy, there are great opportunities for successful career growth and business development. A big number of bonuses are also provided: profitable medical insurance, a trip home, sometimes renting a house, using a car, and much more at the expense of the company.

Health care system. Huge sums are allocated for the development of medicine. Medical care is one of the best here, because the latest developments in this area are applied. It is free for the local population. Working foreigners take out annual health insurance. The cost of the insurance package is different, but this does not affect the quality of service.

Tax policy. Taxes are provided only for companies producing oil and other minerals, as well as for foreign banks. Therefore, the UAE is called a tax haven. There are no taxes on business, personal income, or wages. All money goes to accounts without deductions. So you don’t have to worry about taxes.

No crime. Emirates is an Islamic state. Sharia law is in force here. The rigidity and exactingness of the legislative system led to a safe life in the country. On the streets, video cameras are installed everywhere, recording any violation. Strict adherence to established norms gives residents and guests of the country the opportunity not to worry about forgotten wallets, lost accessories, thefts and car thefts.

Developed tourist base. More than 10 million tourists visit Dubai every year. This brings a decent income to the treasury. Therefore, the government is doing everything to make people feel comfortable. Beautiful comfortable beaches, round-the-clock service, a lot of entertainment venues, huge shopping centers do not leave indifferent vacationers and working foreigners.

Inexpensive cars. There is a huge amount of transport in the Emirates. This is due to the fact that the country has cheap gasoline. Hence the relatively low prices for cars. A car that has served 2 – 3 years is considered old. Therefore, cars are changed here often. The registration of the sale and purchase is fast and without delay.

The main cons of living in the UAE

What makes life difficult for foreigners in the Emirates:

Climate. The heat, unusual for guests, is the first minus. After all, the main territory of the state is a hot desert, the second largest by area after the Sahara. In summer, the thermometer often stands at around 50 ° C, in winter, a more comfortable temperature: 20 – 30 ° C. Frequent sandstorms also annoy, when it is impossible to leave the house. It almost never rains here. Once a year, maybe two. But there are heavy showers, floods.

Features of traditions and laws. Islam is practiced in the UAE. This should always be remembered. The legal framework is Sharia law, which is harsh and unyielding. Therefore, before you go there, study them carefully. Extramarital affairs, use, distribution of drugs and pornography, propaganda of atheism or missionary work of other religions, homosexual relations are strictly punishable, up to the death penalty. Theft, indecent behavior, rudeness are suppressed on the spot. Huge fines are imposed for non-observance of the elementary rules of cleanliness. During the month of Ramadan, during the fasting period, many cafes and restaurants are closed during the day so as not to tempt the fasting. For a free-thinking foreign tourist, some moments of life in the Emirates are shocking.

Citizenship. There is no way to become a citizen of this state. There are no privileges. Foreign entrepreneurs set up businesses that are expensive to register. Having received a visa for 3 years, they renew their license every year. Many people come to work. The employer pays for and issues a work visa. If there is no work, you will not be able to stay here under any circumstances.

Labor discrimination. As in many countries, when hiring foreigners for work, Arab employers prefer specialists from Europe and America. They are paid solid salaries and are treated with respect. It is considered normal here that people in equal positions receive different salaries due to nationality. Immigrants from Asia, work in heavy, low-paid jobs. Spoiled citizens of the country treat them as second-class people.

Bureaucratic delays. The East, as the hero of the famous film said, is a delicate matter. Despite the comfortable living, the local bureaucracy is annoying. Making out the next documents, you have to constantly remind you of your existence. Do not hope or expect that the papers will be ready by the specified deadline. Always call, walk, contact until you get what you wanted.

Expensive real estate. Due to the large influx of people, many residential buildings are being built here. Their prices are much higher than in other countries. This is due to the fact that foreign investors are investing their capital in local real estate. Therefore, the cost of housing is constantly growing. Residential rentals are also expensive. As a result, a substantial part of the income goes to pay for rented living space.

Family question. Expensive and cloudless life in the UAE attracts many. But it is not available to everyone. Young couples with children who want to earn money should know that maintaining and raising children is not cheap in this country. Education, child development, medical care all cost a lot of money for foreign workers. It is often necessary to hire a nanny to look after the child while the parents are working. These are additional costs, among others.

Life in any country has its pluses and minuses. And the UAE is no exception. It all depends on the person. If he is interested in work and career, decent wages and living conditions. If he is energetic and focused on fulfilling his plans, then this country will be an excellent stepping stone towards the goal. And acquaintance with a new culture always enriches the inner world of a person. But before you go there, study all the material about this state, talk with those who have been there in order to be prepared for various situations.

Is Dubai a good place for expats?

For many, emigration to the UAE is an excellent opportunity to start a new stage in life and enjoy the comfort. But behind the luxury and carelessness lies a harsh reality. After all, moving to the Emirates is not so easy.

But the authorities of the Emirates are prudent, therefore the legal framework is strict in relation to immigrants. There is not a single loophole to get around her rules.

When you think of leaving your home country for foreign lands, quite typical questions arise: where and why? There are a huge number of states in the world, and each has specific features.

It is worth moving to the United Arab Emirates for several reasons:

Lack of crime and, accordingly, a high level of security. Compliance with the legal framework is monitored by strict police officers. In the Emirates, throwing garbage outside the trash can face a large fine, and for more serious crimes – deportation and, at times, the death penalty. Corruption is completely absent;

State concern for the population from the first to the last minute of life. The social sphere is constantly undergoing reforms to create comfortable living in the country for both indigenous people and foreigners;

Climate. Many people dream of living all year round in the summer. The Emirates is the perfect place to do this.

For a comfortable stay, the local authorities have equipped literally every meter with air conditioning: they are even at the bus stop. According to statistics, there are three air conditioners for every inhabitant;

Income. The Emirates have one of the highest wages in the world;

Tax area. Residents practically do not pay duties, but the state does not complain about the lack of funds in the budget. The treasury is replenished through effective work and improvement of the country’s economy. The UAE is a paradise for offshore investors. There is no tax on real estate and its lease in the country.

Property prices in Dubai in the UAE in 2021 start at $ 130,000. You can buy hotel apartments that the hotel will rent for you. You are guaranteed to receive 7-10% per annum in foreign currency.

Apartments in Dubai, which are located in the city center on the Marina Mall or near the Burj Khalifa tower, are in high demand among tourists who travel to the country all year round.
