Overview of the Pros of Living in Dubai as an Expat

So you have decided to move to Dubai? You are not alone. Thousands of newcomers migrate to this emirate every year, lured by the promises of a better life and career prospects in an exotic land. The question is: “Why moving to Dubai?” This article should help you discern whether or not living here will be beneficial for you.

Dubai is a wonderful place to live. In fact, it has been voted as the best place in the Middle East for expats to live and work. However, this cannot guarantee that life here will be easy. If you are thinking of moving to Dubai and want to know more about how and why living in Dubai is worthwhile, read on.

A Better Quality Of Life

Dubai is blessed with a very mild climate; this makes it very pleasant to be outside most of the year-round, regardless of what time of day it is. Living in Dubai means never experiencing harsh cold winters or scorching hot summers you would encounter elsewhere in the Middle East, for example, Saudi Arabia. The cost of living in Dubai is also lower than in other major global cities such as London, Paris and New York.

Tax-Free Living

One of the major benefits of living in Dubai is that expats can enjoy a tax-free lifestyle. This means that you do not have to worry about paying income tax, wealth tax, or any other form of tax that can be imposed on you when you are outside your home country. This feature makes Dubai an attractive destination for expatriates in the Middle East and worldwide.

Better Job Opportunities

Another major reason to move to Dubai is better career opportunities in job openings, higher wages, and work-life balance. Dubai is home to many multinational corporations and offers a wide range of job opportunities for expats in various industries. The cost of living in Dubai is also lower than in other major global cities such as London, Paris, and New York.

Improved Standard of Living

Thanks to the oil boom of the 1970s, Dubai has managed to develop and improve its standard of living rapidly. New infrastructure and state-of-the-art amenities have been built, making Dubai a desirable place to live. In addition, the government offers numerous incentives to expats, such as free housing and healthcare.

Plenty of Activities and Events to Enjoy

Dubai is an extremely vibrant and lively city with plenty of activities and events to keep you entertained. From shopping at the world’s largest malls to enjoy a luxurious dinner at one of Dubai’s fine restaurants, there is always something to do in this city. Some many cultural events and festivals take place throughout the year, so you will never get bored living here.

Safe and Secure

Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. It has a very low crime rate, and you can walk around freely at all hours of the day or night without feeling threatened. The UAE also has strict laws against any form of criminal activity, so you do not have to worry about safety if you are thinking of moving to Dubai.

Endless Adventures and Excursions to Explore

As the saying goes, “the world is your oyster.” And this is definitely true when it comes to Dubai. With its proximity to other countries in the region, such as Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, there are endless adventures and excursions to explore. All you need to do is board a plane, and in just one hour, you can be on the other side of the world exploring another culture.

Best Areas and Suburbs in Dubai

When it comes to finding a place to live in Dubai, there are plenty of options to choose from. However, not all areas and suburbs are created equal. Here is a list of the best areas and suburbs in Dubai:

Downtown Dubai

One of the most popular areas in Dubai, Downtown is home to iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain. It is also a major shopping and dining destination, with plenty of trendy restaurants and luxury boutiques. Aside from this fact, Downtown is also one of the most expensive areas in Dubai. This way, you get the best of both worlds: an ideal location and making lots of money.

The Palm Jumeirah

Dubai is known as one of the most expensive places in the world to live. However, Dubai does offer a wide variety of housing choices which include high rises (apartments), villas, and townhouses. So depending on your budget and whether you want to rent or buy, costs will vary.

A three-bedroom apartment inside the Palm Jumeirah starts at around AED 235,000 per annum to rent, while a studio apartment in the same area will set you back AED 95,000. Villas on the Palm can go for as much as AED 1 million per annum to rent.

What is the Cost of Living in Dubai?

Again this depends on which housing option you choose. For example, getting your groceries from local supermarkets or stores will set you back about AED 100 per week for a family of four. Renting an apartment in this same neighborhood would cost around AED 2,000 per month.

What is the Weather Like in Dubai?

Dubai has a hot desert climate with high humidity levels. Summer temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius, and winter temperatures can drop to around 10 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is rare but typically happens in the winter months.

Best pre-school and nurseries in Dubai part 2 – Part one is here.

Preschool and nurseries in Dubai

Below are the ones that expat parents in Dubai mention the most and remember that they almost always work Sunday through Thursday.

Some kindergartens accept babies from 3 months old, although most prefer to accept babies from 12 months. Tuition fees and times vary greatly from school to school. Usually, kindergartens are open four or five hours, although some offer early morning and later evenings. Some have lunch and summer classes.

However, the only way to properly know about the school is to visit it. The most popular newsrooms – in true Dubai style – have long lines. The ones in Jumeirah and Umm Sukiem are especially popular because they are the oldest; it doesn’t always mean better, but it does mean that people know more about them and have more basis for their opinion.

The Children’s Garden Green Community

The nursery was started in 2005 by Birgit Ertl in cooperation with the Talim education group from the UAE. It is the first truly bilingual school in Dubai, currently enrolling over 600 children from over 50 nationalities in two schools, one of which is in Al Barsha.

This multilingual preschool provides a caring, friendly and fun environment for children 2-6 years old in Dubai at Dubai Investments Park and Al Barsha 2. Based here in Dubai in 2005 they are registered with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

They believe that the happiness of the children is vital. They need time to grow up in a holistic environment that encourages and supports them to make informed choices from hundreds of activities in a carefully prepared environment. TCG children become experts in managing their learning and become part of the global community.

The caring, homely and creative environment not only offers a gentle introduction to social life outside the family but also helps every child develop independence and fulfill their potential.

Dovecote Nursery School

Dovecote Nursery is a high-quality kindergarten offering first class education for children under 3 years old. Dovecote is a UK-managed nursery that follows the EYFS curriculum.

Dovecote prepares your child for early school age, making them confident and independent learners. They provide a comprehensive environment with highly trained staff trained to deliver the high standard of care you expect to find in UK accredited nurseries.

They recognize that parents are the first and most persistent educators and educators of their children.

The school’s goal is to work closely with parents to complement their childcare approach, in particular, to help children learn new skills such as toilet training, reading, and writing. The closer the parent and nursery teamwork in partnership, the more benefit the child will receive in the nursery.

Dovecote Nursery strives to be a leader in high-quality and progressive childcare. They will create a warm, friendly, and happy environment in which each child is encouraged to reach their full potential through praise, sensitivity, and mutual respect.

The nursery door is always open to all parents and guardians. Parents will also be invited to regular parent-teacher meetings to discuss their child’s progress. At the end of each day, parents will receive a Daily Diary containing a summary of what their child ate, how long they slept, and other important information. They also capture key moments of the child’s day to share with the family.

Emirates British Nursery

Emirates British Nursery was founded in Dubai in 2000. Since then, the nursery has grown and developed, but the basic principle of providing the highest quality childcare and early childhood education remains true.

They have grown to four first-class nurseries throughout Dubai, located in Mirdif, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and our newest Villa branch.

At Emirates British Nursery, they follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) system in line with the UK National Curriculum. With a strong focus on creating a positive and safe environment in which both children and staff can thrive, Emirates British Nursery maintains a strong sense of community. They are happy to join you and your child on their educational journey.

As an outstanding group of kindergartens, the school strives to provide all children with an Education Fund, a Life Fund.

The school tries to be the best preschool education and childcare provider in Dubai and UAE, to set quality standards in teaching and educating young children in Dubai and the UAE, and to prepare the foundation for young children to become responsible global citizens.

Jumeirah International Nursery Al Safa

The Jumeirah International Nurseries (JINS) network of kindergartens, owned by the Fortes Education Group (which primarily operates Regent and Sunmarke schools), consists of three subsidiaries – Downtown, Sunmarke, and Al Safa. We visit the Al Safa branch to find out what’s new in this long-established and well-known nursery.

JINS Al Safa is located just behind Jumeirah Primary School, making it a convenient option for parents with older children in school. It is also conveniently located at Jumeirah English School, Emirates English School, and Safa British School.

The street is mostly residential, with street parking and an adjoining open sandy parking lot. The nursery is located in a large former residential villa with a very spacious area and several outbuildings that serve different purposes.

Upon arrival at the nursery, the atmosphere is calm and well organized and we are greeted by two friendly office staff. Then we are introduced to Samina Hayari, General Manager of the Fortes Nursery Group and Acting Head of JINS Al Safa.

Samina started her kindergarten career at JINS as a teacher, then moved on to FS1’s classroom teacher, kindergarten manager, and now to the group general manager. Samina is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education and Leadership. Samina tells our reviewer that she really enjoys the emphasis on innovation and best practice that this qualification supports.

Little Land Nursery

A small land nursery was established in 2006; since then it has earned a name and fame in a short period of its existence. It has 3 branches in Faih. The center is well equipped with modern equipment and an ideal infrastructure, which is distinguished by a high degree of security.

Little Land Kindergarten and Montessori Center have International Baccalaureate (IB) World School status.

IB World Schools share a common philosophy of striving to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive student community by offering challenging, high-quality international education programs that share a powerful vision.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is about more than just degree programs and certifications. Deep down, they are driven by a mission to create a better world through education.

They value their hard-earned reputation for quality, high standards, and pedagogical leadership. They achieve their goals by working with partners and actively involving stakeholders, especially teachers.

They promote intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an integral part of life in the 21st century.

Introduction

Thankfully, it’s not difficult to move to this country. Would you love to explore the world around you? Interesting!

There are plenty of things to recommend about life in the United Arab Emirates. Before we proceed to explain what it entails to relocate to this beautiful land, let’s quickly walk you through the best reasons to start living in this country.

The weather and beaches in this country are unique compared to the Western world. Besides, UAE aims to become one of the five happiest countries in the world. So, why not try your next relocation plan as soon as possible?

If you love following a day of work, checking amazing beaches with fantastic weather, the UAE is the perfect country for you.

The country has one of the largest continuous sand deserts in the world. In fact, everything here is gorgeous, from the man-made islands off the coast of Dubai to the world’s tallest tower known as Burj Khalifa.

While the United Arab Emirates population is around 10 million, research revealed that more than 80 percent of this population comes from abroad. This means you can expect a huge variety of mixed cultures and traditions.

No tax payment in the United Arab Emirates. However, as of 2018, the government introduced VAT on most goods and services. But, there are no taxes, and you can save enough money while in the United Arab Emirates.

Ultimate Checklist in Moving to UAE

Just like how moving to other countries can be extremely difficult, UAE is no exception if you didn’t follow the proper steps. It’s an increasingly popular destination for emigrants around the world. With a good salary, standard of living, plenty of job opportunities, and many others, the benefits of relocating to this country cannot be overemphasized. To help make your move easier, below is our checklist.

Make Good Research

Before you move to any country of your choice, it’s pretty essential to do your research. For many expats, the UAE represents a whole way of life. This is why it’s vital to know whether the culture and tradition are exactly what you’ve been looking for. To give you an idea of what to expect, try and understand an introduction to the country’s climate, wages, political system, and many others.

Proper Visa Arrangement

It’s no doubt that a visa application is one of the first things to consider when you’re planning to move abroad. More so, ensure to know the requirements for you and your family. Aside from this fact, check that you have all the documents before you leave to avoid any inconveniences in your new home.

Financial Management in UAE

When moving to the United Arab Emirates, you must have enough money to support yourself and your family. This implies that you have the short-term money needs and the long-term financial management strategy as explained below:

Bank Account Research – Bank account research is among the things to know. Check whether your bank account meets the stated agreement by the United Arab Emirates immigration services.

Insurance policy – Ensure your family has the protection they need by sorting out different insurance premiums before leaving your home country.

Find a Good Place to Live

Do yourself a favor by finding the best apartment to live in. In this article, we’ve come up with the latest price list of accommodation in this country. With this in mind, you’ll know what to expect. Whatever your housing need may be, UAE has the right one for you.

Entry Job Opportunities

Many expats moving to this country will already have a job. Also, it would be better to have a job offer and later change your plan when getting to the country. This is because; the UAE has experienced economic growth in the last few decades, so there are plenty of opportunities to select before relocating.

Learn the Language

While this country is suitable for Muslims, people practicing other religions can still relocate to the UAE. So, whether you’re a Muslim or not, start learning the Arabic language for effective communication in this country. For more insightful tips about the language, check more details on Arabic learning.

Schooling Options and Useful Resources

Relocating to a new country with your children can be challenging. Take some of the stress out of the first week you relocate to UAE by researching the available school options for your kids. Aside from that, take valuable resources as an essential guide to help you throughout your stay in the United Arab Emirates.

National Public Holidays in UAE (2021)

New Year’s Day in UAE – Every first of January

Arafat Day – 19th of July 2021

September Equinox – 22nd of September

Commemoration Day – every first of December

Prophet’s Birthday Holiday – October 21st, 2021

UAE National Day Celebration – 2nd of December

Benefits of Moving to the UAE

With the country’s over 70 percent young and professional population, Dubai seems to be an expat paradise with everything you need for a successful vacation and fun time living abroad. However, thousands of foreigners are currently enjoying the country’s lavish lifestyle, good weather, desert nation, and many more, to mention a few. If you’re considering enjoying this opportunity, we have compiled the benefits of relocating to the UAE.

Endless Leisure Possibilities

Lifestyle and leisure, especially in Dubai and other cities, cannot be overemphasized. From camping under the stars in the desert to skiing around the city, UAE is fantastic. Besides, the city’s shopping malls are well renowned, and there are even cinemas, play areas, and many destinations that’d be of your interest to relocate to the country.

Out of respect to the country’s Islamic, consumption of alcohol in a public place is restricted. That being said, there are beach parties, club nights, and many social events that make the country unique in today’s twenty-first century. Also, if you’re a sports fan, you can enjoy some fantastic international events in the country.

Economic Growth

UAE’s economic growth may not be quite good at first, but as of this 21st century, it has continued to flourish at a steady rate. This, combined with the country’s GDP of around 5 percent, make the country one of the most financially stable nations in the world.

More so, this economic growth relies on a large international workforce. Meanwhile, Dubai businesses are well aware of this economic growth. This is why the company in the UAE pays generous salaries to anyone willing to make the leap and relocate to the United Arab Emirates.

Tax-Free Salaries

For most expats, this is one of the reasons to relocate to the UAE. It’s a tax-free nation, and this could allow you to boost your savings, enjoy little luxuries, and have a wonderful time with family and friends. Also, as there’s no tax to pay on goods and services, you may spend less if you can resist the designer shops.

Weather in UAE

In UAE, the year-round sunshine and temperatures rarely drop below 20˚C, making the nation a sun-lover’s paradise. For example, in Dubai, you can expect to enjoy an average of 342 sunny days every year. Conversely, when the weather gets a little too warm, you can visit any tourist attraction or restaurants for food. This way, the weather is predictable compared to the unpredictable weather in the UK.

Reliable Health and Infrastructure

Huge government investment has ensured UAE infrastructure remains one of the best in the world. The healthcare system, education, and transportation standards rival many in the world as of today. In fact, there are excellent private international schools where children can follow the British or American style.

Unique and Affordable Luxury

UAE high-end designer shops and seven-star hotels are legendary and unique. If you enjoy splashing the cash on the best food, entertainment, and clothes, this is the best country to visit. Especially it majorly known city, Dubai, here, you can enjoy excellent street food from around the world for just a few pounds.

Like any other famous city, the Dubai apartment seems to be one of the most expensive in the country. However, even those on a low budget can find affordable, chic accommodation at a low price. All you’ll need to do is compromise on size, location but not luxury because accommodation is of a high standard.

Multicultural Thriving Community
