Although a Balinese work permit is initially granted for only one year, this can be extended multiple times – depending on your situation. When you first arrive in Bali, you will receive a work permit for one year. If you want to stay working in Bali after this time has expired, the next step is to apply for a 6-month extension.
This will allow you to stay in the country and continue working while carrying out any necessary investigations into your application. After this, you can apply for further six-month extensions if required (this is done at the same time as applying for a KITAS).
One of the great things about Bali is that it’s very relaxed. This also applies to procedures like applying for your visa – you don’t need to worry about handing over your passport at any point during the application process.
For example, when you visit an immigration office in order to renew or apply for a KITAS, you don’t need to provide your passport. Instead, they will ask for a copy of your passport photo page and information about when it expires.
Although this may not happen very often, it’s important to remember that a Bali work permit can be revoked at any time. This may occur if the authorities believe you are no longer eligible to hold a KITAS, for example, if you have been working in Bali illegally. It’s therefore essential to always make sure you’re following the correct visa procedures and to keep your paperwork up-to-date.
If you need to leave Indonesia for a short while, you can apply for a KITAS travel visa. This will allow you to stay outside Indonesia for up to 60 days.
A KITAS isn’t the only visa that you’ll need in order to work in Bali – there are other visas too. In order to obtain a KITAS, you’ll need a medical and police certificate from your local area. These certificates are usually valid for six months, but they mustn’t expire when you receive them.
There are several stages in the application process for a KITAS in Bali. The first step is to apply for a visa notification (VON). This can be done online and costs $25. Once you have received your VON, you will then need to visit an immigration office in order to submit your passport and other required documents.
If you apply for a KITAS from an embassy abroad, it can take several weeks to be approved. In this case, you will not be allowed to enter Indonesia within the first 60 days of your visa expiring. If you apply for a KITAS within Indonesia, it can take up to 3 days to be approved. In any case, you mustn’t leave the country without having first applied for your visa.
In order to check the status of your KITAS application, you can visit the immigration website. You’ll need a copy of your receipt number in order to search for your application. If you have any questions about how long it takes, you should ask an immigration officer at a local office in Bali. There are several stages you need to go through before the government approves your KITAS.
