Benefits of Moving To Australia In 2022

With so many people flocking over in 2022, can you really afford to miss out on such an opportunity? First and foremost, there are many reasons why you should consider moving to Australia in 2022, so let us take a look at some of the benefits of doing this.

Australia Is Safe

There are many countries around the world that you probably do not want to live in due to factors such as safety and security. Fortunately, Australia is a very safe place for anyone to live in. There is no war; violent crime is a rare and stable government.

As well as this, Australia has very good health care too, which would make it easier for people to get what they need when they are ill or injured rather than having to pay large medical fees like in other countries.

Affordable Healthcare

As mentioned above, Australia’s healthcare system is far better than other countries. This is because it is very affordable for everyday people to live here and get the healthcare they need. If you are sick, then you will not have to pay massive medical bills like in other places around the world, where premiums are high, and also there are fewer benefits too.

Good Quality Of Life

Australia offers its residents the chance to have a good quality of life. This is because things are cheaper here, which means that people can live comfortably without spending all their money on things they need.

Great for Families

Australia offers great opportunities for anyone who has a family, especially with children. The education system in Australia is one of the best globally, and there are plenty of quality schools across the nation. There are also various things for children to do, such as entertainment venues, zoos, and parks that kids can play at. This makes Australia a great place to raise children.

Affordable Real Estate

As well as healthcare, housing is another thing that most people worry about when considering moving to another country. Fortunately, housing is very affordable in Australia, which means that you can find a nice place to live without having to break the bank. As well as this, you will not be struggling with high electricity prices as people do in other countries – it is only $0.27 per kilowatt-hour.

Tourist Attractions to Visit in Australia

Australia is a beautiful country with an abundance of natural scenery and pleasant cities that are very welcoming to tourists worldwide. To best see the country, it’s recommended to book one of many tour packages available from travel agencies worldwide. In this session, we will give you some points of interest for your Australia tour.

1)    Sydney Opera House

On first impression, the Sydney Opera House appears to be an elaborate construction of impossibly smooth white sails and pillars caught between the cliff faces of the rocks it’s built.

Closer inspection reveals that it is, in fact, an architectural masterpiece with a grand exterior and a unique multi-layered interior. The tour of the Opera House is free and allows visitors to see its rooms, stages, and backstage areas.

2)    The Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are a stunning landscape of rolling hills, sharp cliffs, and the beautiful blueberry-colored rocks that give them their name. The cliffs offer breath-taking views of the area and good clean fun for those who like to climb rocks and rappel off them, and the peaks provide a challenge for hikers and rock climbers alike.

3)    Sidney Wildlife Park

Wildlife parks are always hit or miss with tourists, but this one is particularly well done because it does not confine the animals behind fences or cage bars. Instead, it recreates their natural habitats with tall trees and rocky cliffs that the animals can see over themselves.

The park even includes an amphitheater for educational shows where guides bring out various animals to talk about them in front of tourists!

4)    Uluru (Ayer’s Rock)

Uluru, or Ayers Rock as the original white explorers named it, is a majestical monolith on the horizon whose size makes you feel small. It is an honor to visit this site which is sacred to Australia’s Aboriginal people and has ancient tales carved into its rocks that have survived millions of years exposed to the harsh desert conditions.

5)    Great Barrier Reef

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia’s most popular attractions, and for a good reason: it is a gorgeous underwater landscape with so much diversity and abundance of sea life that scuba divers and snorkelers can’t help but be in awe. The best way to see the reef is to book a tour that takes you onto the water and allows you to swim, snorkel, and dive along with its wonderful coral formations.

6)    Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

Located along the vibrant harbor of Sydney, this aquarium is part of a worldwide chain that brings all kinds of sea creatures to visitors. The highlight of the experience is getting to see sharks and other large predatory fish swimming by you in their giant tanks. The best time to visit is at feeding time when these fish gorge themselves on all kinds of treats.

7)    Kakadu National Park

For those who want to see a bit of aboriginal culture and spend some time exploring the wilds, Kakadu National park is the perfect spot. Full of natural beauty and ancient rock carvings depicting stories from Aboriginal folklore, this park also offers plenty of opportunities for adventure.

Rent a canoe and paddle around the calm waters in one of many natural canals, or go trekking in some of the most diversely vegetated areas in Australia.

Things to Know About Getting Married in Australia

Getting married in Australia can be an exciting time for you and your partner; this article will give you five tips to ensure that the wedding runs smoothly.

Have a Plan

If you’re getting married in Australia, you must plan what kind of wedding you want to have. Not only will this help you stay organized, but it will ensure that the wedding runs smoothly and according to schedule. Remember, if the wedding is held outdoors, the summer months can be very hot, so make sure you remember this when you decide on a wedding date.

Choose Your Venue Carefully

When getting married in Australia, you want to ensure that you choose your venue carefully. Not only do you want the place to look nice for guests viewing, but it should also be able to accommodate the number of people invited. Take measurements of the location where you plan on holding your ceremony and reception so that you’re sure that everything will fit nicely.

Obtain Your Marriage License

Before you get married in Australia, you’ll need to obtain your marriage license. This will include the following steps.

A medical exam (approx. $300) – if either partner has had an STD or HIV/AIDS within the past six months

A blood test (approx. $20)

An application for a marriage license (cost varies by location)

Make sure to visit the office responsible for issuing your license as early as possible. This will ensure that you have enough time to complete the necessary steps, including having two witnesses present at your ceremony. You will need a witness who is at least 18 years old and not your partner, an immediate family member, or an employee of the registrar’s office.

Keep It Simple

When choosing the food for your reception, thinks simple! You want to choose traditional wedding foods, which will satisfy all guests at the wedding. Remember, because summer months in Australia can be very hot, it is wise to have a wedding with cold food.

What are the legal requirements to marry in Australia?

Getting married is a very exciting time for most couples. However, it can be daunting to organize your wedding, especially if you are doing it alone or don’t know many people down under. If you do decide that you would like to get married in Australia, there are some important things to know before you begin planning your marriage ceremony.

Conclusion

The various types of spouse visas in Australia are dependent on whether or not the marriage is still in progress. If the marriage has ended in divorce only, then there can still be a pathway to acquiring permanent residency through another avenue. Nonetheless, refer to this guide to understand the process and all it takes to get a spousal visa in Australia.

Getting A Spousal Visa In Australia – that will be the topic of today’s article.

Before introducing this article, if you are interested in our core services which are expat financial, insurance and mortgages, you can contact me here.

The best time to consider your financial situation is when you are moving to a new country.

Introduction

Australia is a popular destination to immigrate to for many people worldwide. With many employment opportunities and high quality of life, it isn’t surprising that so many people want to live and work here. However, the legal options for people coming here as spouses are often long and drawn out.

For those living in Australia on a partner visa, the process of getting permanent residency once they have married their spouse is quite easy. However, for those who are just visiting and fall in love with an Australian while they are here, it isn’t so straightforward.

The first thing that you need to understand is that for many visas, including partner visas, you need to show that you can support yourself, or more commonly your family, without relying on government assistance. This means providing a statement from your employer saying what type of visa you hold and how long it is valid and a copy of your payslips going back the last twelve months.

If both parties are working, this shouldn’t be an issue. However, if only one of you is working, or neither of you is working when the application is being made, you will need to provide a statement from a financial institution saying that they will support your application and how often they will make payments.

Generally, this means paying in three months’ worth of income for everyone in the family, which is a big commitment. Today, we have compiled this article to explain getting a spouse visa in Australia. Not only is that, but we will also walk you through the process of moving to this country, the pros, and more.

How to Get a Spousal Visa in Australia

Getting married is one of the most important decisions in your life. For many people, it’s also an exciting time when two families are blended into one. Maybe you’re already married to someone living in Australia, or maybe you’ve just fallen head-over-heels for a special someone who lives down under.

But what happens if you want to bring your spouse to Australia without having them live here as illegal immigrants? How can you get a spousal visa in Australia? Here are the steps you’ll need to take.

1. Be sure you’re really in Love

Even if you’ve been with your partner for a long time, it’s impossible to know everything about them. Maybe they have a criminal record in their home country that you didn’t know about. If this is the case, you’ll need to consult an immigration lawyer before making any decisions about marriage and getting a spousal visa.

If they have a criminal history, you will need to find out if they can enter Australia without being deemed an illegal immigrant – which could lead to deportation.

2.    Discuss Long-Term Goals

Once you’re sure that you and your partner want to spend the rest of your lives together, it’s important to have a serious discussion about what you expect from this life change. Do you hope to settle down in Australia? If so, how long do you plan on staying there? Are there any specific jurisdictions you’d like to stay away from? The more information you have, the better.

3. How Old Is Your Partner?

If your partner is under 18, they’ll need a parent or guardian to help them get a spousal visa in Australia. You might also want to check with the Australian embassy regarding requirements for having your home country’s government issue a letter of consent before you make any other progress.

4.    Get Your Paperwork Together

Once you’ve decided to get married, it’s important to start gathering the paperwork that will be needed throughout the application process. If your spouse is moving from outside of Australia, they’ll need to bring their birth certificate along with any other documents that will prove their age.

They’ll also need to have their criminal record certified in whatever country it was issued in, along with a written affidavit for the Australian embassy verifying what type of crime they committed and when. If they’re from a country where English is not the primary language, they’ll need to provide an official translation of all documents.

5.    Submit Your Application

Now that you have the necessary paperwork, it’s time to turn everything in and apply for a spousal visa in Australia. If the embassy has any questions about your application, they’ll contact you directly rather than asking your spouse for answers. You can check out Visa First when looking for an expedited service that will get your application processed quickly.

6.    Wait For a Response

Depending on how busy the embassy is, it could take anywhere from a few days to several months for them to adjudicate your spousal visa in Australia application. Once the paperwork has been processed and everything looks good, you’ll receive an email or letter with instructions that will allow your spouse to enter Australia.

Requirements to Get a Spousal Visa in Australia

Have you been married for a year or more? Are you looking to bring your spouse to Australia but don’t know the requirements? Here is a list of what you need to do to make sure your request goes through quickly and smoothly.

The Marriage Certificate

Marriage certificates are very important as they show that the relationship is official. This means that you will need to provide a copy of your marriage certificate as part of the application process for the Spousal Visa in Australia. The marriage certificate must be an original or certified copy. You can find out more about getting an original Marriage Certificate here.

Your Birth Certificate

Another important document required and that you’ll need to provide is a copy of your Birth Certificate. We know that many people like to keep their birth certificates locked away in the family home, but don’t forget to take them with you when you make your initial visit to the Australian Embassy or High Commission.

Your Partner’s Proof of Relationship (Detailed)

Your spouse will need to provide proof that your relationship is ongoing. To do this, they will have to show that you have lived together for two years of the last three years. This can be done with bank statements or bills in common or joint ownership of property etc. The couple will also need to show that they have had a child together if they have one.

Your Partner’s Police Certificate

Your spouse will also need to prove that they have not committed any offenses in their past, which would deem them ineligible for entry into Australia. To obtain this certified document, they will need to request it from the authorities over where they live.

A list of countries that are currently exempt is available here. If you are in a country that is not exempt, you will have to follow the process for obtaining your partner’s police certificate. You can find out more about that here.

Your Partner’s Health Certificate

Your spouse should have already provided you with their medical records before applying for Australian Citizenship through Marriage Migration. However, if any further tests are required, they will need to provide these before your application can be processed.

Please note that any health conditions will likely complicate the visa application and lead to an interview or other actions. It’s always best to take advantage of the services of a registered migration agent who has plenty of experience in dealing with Spousal Visa applicants. They will be able to help you through any difficult times.

Eligibility for a Spouse Visa in Australia

A spouse visa is a non-protected temporary visa that allows an Australian citizen or permanent resident to travel into Australia.

Provided that their partner can support them, then on arrival, they will be granted a Bridging A Visa (Subclass 801) which allows them to stay in Australia for up to two years while their application is processed. The eligibility requirements for a spouse visa in Australia are as follows:

Both partners must be aged 18 years or older

You must have lived together in a relationship similar to marriage for 12 months before applying. In cases where you cannot provide evidence of this due to exceptional circumstances, the Department will consider your situation on its merits.

You must have met in person at least once during the previous two years unless one of you was unable to travel because of an accident, illness, or for compassionate reasons.

You must show any dependents traveling with you are included in your application. This is applicable only when the main visa applicant is younger than 18 years old.

You must be able to show that the primary visa applicant is on a spouse or interdependency visa, partnered with an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and therefore must provide evidence of this. This also includes secondary applicants who are married or in a de facto relationship with one another regardless of citizenship or residency status.

You must be in a genuine and ongoing relationship. Evidence of this would include ‘proof of shared assets, life together, and support.’

The spouse visa is a temporary visa that allows the holder to live in Australia for two years from when they first arrive.

You can apply for an extension as long as your relationship is ongoing and no other factors exist that may make you ineligible.

10 Reasons Why Australia is Worth Visiting

Everybody enjoys an Australian vacation, either for the fabulous beaches or the amazing activities. All the fun stuff aside, there are many reasons to visit Australia that you might not have even thought of yet. Without further ado, below are the ten reasons why Australia is worth visiting.

The Animals

Australia is home to loads of unique wildlife, both native and introduced by European settlers. There are kangaroos jumping around, wild koalas in the trees, crocodiles swimming around in the rivers, and much more. The really amazing thing is how accustomed to people they are.

For example, if you go to an open zoo or sanctuary that has kangaroos or wallabies, they will not be scared of you at all. You can see them up close and feed them by hand. They are very used to humans, so it’s a truly amazing experience!

The Landscaping in Australia

Everything you’ve ever seen in movies about Australia is true. There are huge, tall gum trees with their roots growing along the ground, creating some of the most unique landscapes you’ll ever see – even more so if they have been burnt!

The rocky ground with the little eucalyptuses growing here and there makes for very scenic hiking spots as well. All the lush green grass made me feel like I was in Ireland or something since it is so different from what we have in California.

The Weather

Australia has a great climate. The summers are hot and dry, whereas the winters are not too cold. You can swim in the ocean throughout most of the year, so it’s great for snorkeling or surfing. There is no monsoon season like in parts of Asia, which means that you can visit Australia throughout most of the year and not have to worry about it being unbearably hot.

The Food

Since Australia is just next to Southeast Asia, their food has a lot of influence from there. They have great Pad Thai, Pho, Satay, and the list goes on! And not only is that but they have an entirely different cuisine in which you can enjoy kangaroo, crocodile, emu, fish, and even some insects.

All of this food is grown in the country because Australia has the perfect climate for growing fruits and vegetables. There are also tons of great cheeses there that you don’t find anywhere else!

The Nightlife

Australia’s nightlife is very active and lively. You can go out and have a good time anywhere, as long as you know where to look. In each city, there are tons of unique bars and clubs, some better than others. One place I went to have a DJ who was using some really funky instruments I’d never seen before. Another one had a moshing pit in the middle of the dance floor, so it’s really fun to get crazy at night!

The Variety of People

There are people from all over the world in Australia. Since it is an English-speaking country (with some regional accents), you can meet people there who are fluent in other languages. You can even learn some new phrases or words while you’re there! It’s a great place to meet people from around the world.

The Cost of Living

Australia is very affordable. You can save money while you’re there, because everything is so cheap. They have some of the cheapest flights in the world, so you save time and money by getting there faster. You can get really nice hotels for a good price, and the food is actually pretty cheap as well. Plus, Australia has some of the best homebrews you’ll ever try!

The Activities

Australia offers a lot of fun activities, especially out in nature. You can go hiking or swimming, see amazing waterfalls and natural rock formations, do a skydive, camp out in the wild, and so much more! Since Australia is a huge country with such a wide variety of landscapes (and climates), there is always something fun to do.

The Down under Night Market

Every city in Australia has a night market, which is similar to a farmer’s market, except that they have food stalls out for people to buy. It’s great because you can get really good deals there without having to go through the trouble of bargaining with them! You can meet new people, try some delicious food, and enjoy the culture for a low price.

The People

Lastly, I’d just like to say that Australians are great people. They’re all happy and fun-loving, generous, and kind to their friends and family. It’s really easy to make friends in Australia because many of them come from other countries as well.

I went by myself to relieve some stress, but I met a ton of new people and had a great time. So if you’re looking for a new experience, go visit Australia! There’s so much culture, adventure, food, fun, and more to see there. I hope this article helps convince you to go.

7 Things You Should Avoid When Returning To Australia

Covid is a time when everyone from all over the world who has been educated in other universities comes back to work for a short period of time. It’s an exciting time but it can be complicated if you don’t know what you’re doing. There are a few things that you should avoid when returning, and here are seven of them.

Filing Tax Returns in the Wrong Country

If you’ve been living outside of Australia for the duration of Covid, you’ll have certain legal obligations to your country of residency. The Australian government will not expect you to file a tax return if you are living in another country, but make sure that’s the case! If it isn’t, then be sure to file one as soon as you get back because it could be a nasty surprise if the ATO starts chasing you after Covid is over.

Forgetting To Update Your Address with Organizations

Lots of Australians forget to update their address after they return home, which means any bills that are sent to them end up being returned or lost in the mail because they’re not at the right address. This is not good, so whether you’re returning home just for Covid or moving back permanently, be sure to update all your details with banks, government institutions, and telecommunications companies.

Not Signing Up For Health Cover

Some people might think that they don’t need to sign up for private health because Australia offers free public healthcare. Unfortunately, the private health cover is still necessary for Covid because not only will it help you to avoid being left without any insurance if anything bad happens to you, but you’ll also be covered for things like visits to the dentist and prescriptions.

Not Organizing Travel Insurance

You should have good travel insurance that covers your Covid trip, just in case anything goes wrong. It’s best to compare prices and policies beforehand so that you know what you’re getting into before you go ahead and book things with your insurance company.

Buying or Selling a Car during Covid

It might sound appealing to buy or sell your car while you are there but this is a very risky thing to do during Covid. There are lots of things that could go wrong, especially if you sell your car without getting it checked over by someone else first. Buying a car is pretty dangerous too, so just be careful about this one.

Making Large Purchases

If you have the money available to buy a car or a computer, for example, don’t do it! The money that you spent on the items could be used for flights and other travel experiences instead. There’s nothing wrong with buying or selling electronics while you’re away from home but just make sure that you’re ready to pay for them fully before doing so.

Giving Out Confidential Information

It’s probably a good idea if you cut back on how often you share information about your job and where you live online. This way, it makes it harder for identity thieves to get their hands on personal details about you so they can exploit them when Covid is over.

Frequently Asked Questions about Returning to Australia

Do I need a car when I return?

If yes, then you should. Public transport may not be the best option when moving to a new city and having your own car can help you get around much easier. Yet, if you plan on staying in the same place for longer than 2 years it would be better to look into public transport options as well.

Can I open a bank account?

Yes, you can. However, it is much easier for returning residents to do so if they have their Australian bank details available. On the other hand, this may not be an option depending on how long you were gone or why you left in the first place. Asking your friends and family members if they are willing to help you out in this is a good idea.

Where can I find friends?

Most of my friends are still in Australia. – is something we heard many times and it is very true. There won’t be too much trouble finding like-minded people who enjoy similar things as you, especially if they live in big cities like Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.

How can I find work?

There are many resources online that can help you find jobs in Australia. Some of them will even do the hard part for you by matching your skills with positions that open up to people just like you. And if all else fails, seek out the help of an employment agency in Australia.

Can I still use my phone when I come back?

Yes, you can! However, if you want to make the most of your trip and enjoy yourself you should definitely contact your service provider before coming back. The main thing about making international calls is that it costs a lot more than talking to someone from within Australia. And that is if the company you use even covers international calls from Australia at all.

Can I use my credit card?

Yes, you can! But make sure to read the contract available with it first and figure out whether or not this is going to be a problem for you. Some of the terms and conditions may make your card unusable when you are in Australia.

What will be the cost of living?

This, like many other things, depends on your level of comfort and circumstances. If you do not need to spend much time shopping around for prices before buying something then this question does not apply to you. Yet if every dollar is precious then doing your research can save you a lot of money.

Conclusion

After you might have spent couple of years or month in your chosen destination, returning back to Australia could be quite challenging. However, if you follow the right part, and the instructions or ultimate guide listed in this article, the process will be easy and straightforward.

Returning To Australia During Covid As An Expat – part 1 – that will be the topic of today’s article.

Before introducing this article, if you are interested in our core services which are expat financial, insurance and mortgages, you can contact me here.

The best time to consider your financial situation is when you are moving to a new country.

Introduction

What comes to your mind when you think of home? For me, and many other people alike, Australia is a common answer. Although you might have been studying in Coventry and have no choice than to become accustomed to life there, but deep down you still feel like your real home is back in Australia.

Living far away from family and familiar faces would have made you realize how important family really is, and the support they provide. Upon reflection of this, you’ve begun to hunt for flights back home in order to re-unite with your loved ones for Christmas, right? Wow! That really sounds amazing to hear.

However, it’s not only the thought of peace and comfort that comes with returning home during Covid but also the knowledge that you are reuniting with those who support and love you most. In fact, your journey back to Australia could be as straight forward as you’d like, but life never seems to be that simple.

The first thing you might want to do is search for the quickest and most affordable flights. Unfortunately, this will not happen over Christmas: it’s simply too late now! So, what is the best way to travel back to Australia during covid? Of course, there are cheap flights to catch up this month.

From doing a quick search online, you’ll see airlines that have a 78% approval rating from its customers. But before you proceed, have it in mind that we have compiled this article to meet your requirements. Here, we will explain everything needed to return to Australia during Covid as an expat. Check it out now!

7 Tips to Return to Australia during Covid-19 as an expat

There are many ways to live and work in a new country. You can try your luck going through immigration or finding a job directly, even if you don’t speak the local language. But both options have huge challenges and no guarantees of success.

Australia is a wealthy country with one of the largest economies in the world. That being said, it’s also a beautiful country to live in due to its climate, low crime rates, and lots of fun things to do. If you are looking to move there for work or studies, you don’t necessarily need an employer’s sponsorship; depending on your home qualifications, skills, and experience.

Furthermore, when you find the right opportunity, it may seem like everything is perfect straight away. Meanwhile, there are many things you need to keep in mind before leaving your current life. Here is a list of 10 tips to help you with your return journey to Australia during Covid as an expat.

1.       Prepare For the Worst

Even if it sounds pessimistic, the most important thing about leaving home for any reason is being mentally prepared for the worst. You will have a lot of amazing experiences, but it is also important to be ready for anything that can happen during your journey back to Australia as an expat.

Back home you may have a stable job and a big network of friends, but when moving to a new country with different cultural norms, it all can be gone in a flash. If you are not prepared for the worst, the whole situation may disrupt your mental health causing even more problems out of nowhere.

When things go south, try to be mild-tempered with yourself and others. Being angry doesn’t help anyone! Instead of focusing on what went wrong when trying to move back home, think about what you can do now to improve the situation.

2.       Organize Your Finances

The easiest way to start living in a new country is with an existing savings account, but incomings and outgoings are never fully predictable. Try to set up at least three months’ worth of emergency funds before moving back home as an expat.

Taking a gap year from work to explore is a great way to do something different and earn some money on the side. If you decide to look for an ordinary job before finding your dream position back home as an expat, you need to have enough savings at least until the first payday with no income.

Be realistic about how much money you can make during your adventure in Australia, especially if you are planning to live frugally. One way to get more money while preparing for a long-term stay is by building a side-hustle or freelancing.

Back home there may be many things that you take for granted such as free healthcare and education. In other countries it may be different, so try to see how much it would cost you if something happened to you or your family members.

3. Get Used To the Time Difference Again

If you are planning on moving back to Australia with a family, you will need to get used to the different time zone once again. Even if it is just an hour’s difference and it may not seem like much, this can affect some people more than others.

Make sure to check your watch regularly in case you may need to change the time manually. Sometimes it can be challenging, but it is an experience that will make you stronger. If all else fails, think of moving back home as a chance for another adventure.

4.       Prepare For the Weather

Australia may not be as hot on average compared to where you’re coming from, but it can get quite chilly in some places. Even if you are moving back to Australia during Covid or other time of year with warm climate, be prepared!

You can use this time to relax and enjoy the pool, beach or any other outdoor activities that you miss. If it starts raining, just go inside and take some time out for yourself.

5.       Choose Your Visa Carefully

If you want to move back, make sure you find the best visa for you before making any decisions. There are many different visas for Australia depending on who you are and what you will be doing when moving back. It is important to know them all in order to choose the right one for your needs and circumstances.

After choosing a visa that suits your needs, don’t hold back from applying as soon as possible. Even though it is possible to apply for a visa in Covid, the process takes time and if you want to move back, it is better to get everything done beforehand.

6. Don’t Rush Your Return Journey Home

Even though you may be excited to go back, rushing things will only make it more difficult for yourself. It is important to take everything slowly and plan ahead if needed. This way, you can make sure that you and your things will arrive at the airport on time and without too many problems.

7. Get the Latest Changes in Covid

Moving back home can be scary and it’s easy to get stuck in your old patterns. However, if you want to stay on top of things, try staying in touch with what is happening in both Australia and Covid. This way, you will know if returning home is really the right thing for you to do.

Moving to Australia: Expat guide 2021 – that will be the topic of today’s article.

Before introducing this article, if you are interested in our core services which are expat financial, insurance and mortgages, you can contact me here.

The best time to consider your financial situation is when you are moving to a new country.

Introduction

Australia is a continental country with a population just twice the number of Muscovites, it ranks 12th in terms of GDP and second in terms of the human development index (which takes into account education, living standards and longevity).

Australia was little affected by the economic crisis: in the early 2010s, the economy continued to grow. In 2013, it was recognized as the second wealthiest country after Switzerland. Despite the availability of coal, gas, and diamonds, service companies account for the bulk of the country’s GDP. The IT industry is actively developing here, and a lot of attention is paid to education.

Perhaps one of the few disadvantages of this country is its remoteness from the rest of the world.

From year to year, Australia confidently occupies one of the leading positions among the countries most attractive for immigration. At the same time, in terms of living standards Australia, despite its geographical isolation, even bypasses many EU member states.

High quality of life, developed economy, magnificent nature, and quality medicine. In addition, Australia is a country that is friendly to immigrants and their diversity of cultures. Here, conditions are purposefully created that make the country attractive for moving. Anyways don’t rush with making a serious decision.

The procedure for moving to Australia has its own characteristics and pitfalls, which it will be useful for you to know about in advance in order to simplify your life. For example, not everyone knows that you can get bank details in Australian currency online, without much fuss, immediately upon arrival in Australia.

Before we start reviewing all the possible ways to move to Australia let’s first see what are the main pros and cons of this country and why you should consider this country as a good place to live.

The main pros of moving to Australia

The happiest people live in Australia. Australia is one of the ten happiest countries on the planet according to the UN happiness rating. The ranking assesses such indicators as the level of social support, GDP per capita, corruption score, life expectancy and freedom of choice.

Australia welcomes immigrants. About a third of the population in Australia are immigrants, which is not surprising. People of different cultures come here from all over the world, so it is easy to become “your own” here.

Tolerant society. Thanks to the amazing cultural diversity of Australian society, the risk of discrimination or abuse is equal to zero. In addition, same-sex marriage is legal in Australia and the country provides safe havens for people who have suffered human rights abuses.

Australia has a great ecology. The people are especially satisfied with the quality of water and air in their country than anyone else in the world.

An opportunity to enjoy the unique nature. The flora and fauna of Australia has been forming for millions of years far from other continents: from 6,000 species of animals live in Australia, many of which do not live anywhere else on the planet. Due to higher number of population and the careful behavior of Australians towards nature, many unspoiled places have been preserved in Australia.

Free and high-quality medical care for citizens and residents. Australia has a good health care system, both public and private insurance available for people. At the same time, the services of free medicine can be used not only by citizens, but also by immigrants with a permanent visa. At the same time, medicine in Australia is one of the best in the world on a par with the countries of Western Europe and North America.

Feeling safe. Australia is one of the safest countries in the world. This means that the level of violent crime, as well as deaths in car accidents in Australia tends to the world minimum.

The whole world will be open to you. The European Union, the United States, Canada and many other countries do not require visas from Australian citizens – a compelling argument in favor of obtaining Australian citizenship.

Comfortable climate. Australia has a mild climate, and the number of hours of sunshine per year in some regions reaches 3000.

The opportunity to take your family with you. Australian immigration policy allows immigrants to take their loved ones with them, including a life partner – even before they are officially married.

The main cons of moving to Australia

Expensive air tickets. Due to Australia’s remoteness from other continents and countries, travel and home trips will be expensive.

Dangerous animals. Australia is home to many species of poisonous animals and insects. For example, the Sydney funnel spider is one of the most venomous in the world.

Dear kindergartens. The price per month can reach 1,336 USD and higher.

Expensive housing. Especially in large cities – in Sydney, the minimum price for renting a one-room apartment outside the city center is from 1,073 USD per month.

Paid higher education.

How to move to Australia: Ways to immigrate

To immigrate to Australia, you need to obtain an immigrant visa – a visa that automatically gives you the right to permanently reside in Australia. A special feature of the immigration process is that you can apply for a visa online.

Submission of biometric data is the only stage at which you will need to visit the Australian mission because even a candidate receives a visa by e-mail.

Anyways, this does not mean at all that immigrating to Australia is fast and easy. The applicant has to prepare different documents, and the preparation may take more time than applying for the visa itself: this is a certificate of proficiency in English, and confirmation of professional qualifications by the Australian side, and an invitation from an employer. For this reason, you should start preparing for immigration in advance, but hurry up with buying tickets is not worth it.

So, the first and main step after making a decision is obtaining an immigrant visa. This document will give you the right to permanently reside in the country. The cost of a visa depends on its type, starting from 0 AUD and reaching 7.715 AUD in some cases. You can choose the type of your visa here. And with the help of a converter, you can quickly calculate how much a visa will cost in your currency.

The most popular are the following types of immigration: professional and family. It is also possible to immigrate to Australia for business, student study programs and refugee status. Let’s consider all the options.

Professional visa

A number of visas are available for those wishing to relocate to Australia under the Skilled Worker Program. The main requirement for candidates in the professional stream is the availability of a specialty in demand in the country. An up-to-date list of the most popular professions can be found on the website of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

An impressive part of the list is occupied by professions from the field of IT, medicine, agriculture, engineering, as well as social workers. The category for professionals assumes the possibility of both immigration at the invitation of an employer and independent immigration.

Other requirements include age, health requirements, knowledge of the English language at a sufficient level, as well as confirmation of the level of qualifications. Do not forget to familiarize yourself with the minimum points system in order to predict your chances of getting a visa. These points are awarded based on age, language proficiency test, work experience and education.

However, it should be emphasized that the requirements may vary greatly depending on the type of visa. Therefore, it is important to clearly define the visa that you need in order not to face unnecessary costs and wasted time.

In order to attract qualified professionals from all over the world, Australia has thought of a separate way of immigration for professionals using the Skilled Independent Visa (189). Professional (independent) immigration differs from ordinary labor in that the candidate is not required to have an invitation from the employer in the country of immigration.

The Immigration Service evaluates the applicant’s Expression of Interest on the SkillSellect portal, where he explains himself and his qualifications. A professional can also request state or state or territory support. If chosen, he will be able to apply for a Skilled Nominated Visa (190). The applicant’s application must score at least 65 points in a special point test (189, 190) to be invited to apply for a visa. For professional immigration to Australia, you must have at least a B2 level of English and proof of higher education and work experience.

Requirements for obtaining professional visas

18–45 years old (there are some exceptions for researchers, professors and other categories);

Higher or secondary vocational education;

Owner of a sought-after profession;

Work experience;

Australian State or Territory nomination for visa 190;

Confirmed professional qualifications;

No previous convictions;

Lack of infectious diseases;

Not less than 65 points in the point test 189 or 190;

Certificate of English Proficiency IELTS 6.0+ or another exam;

Bank statement (on request).

Immigration process for professionals

Make sure that the specified requirements are met;

Confirm professional qualifications;

Submit an Expression of Interest on the SkillSelect Portal. For a 190 state / territory sponsored visa, indicate the need for support;

Wait for an invitation to submit documents for a visa;

Collect and apply for a visa online within 60 days after receiving the invitation;

Submit biometric data by invitation;

Wait for the results (5-10 months);

Receive and print an e-visa with data;

Move to Australia.

Business and investment visa

This category is suitable for entrepreneurs willing to develop or support a business in Australia. Depending on the subclass of the visa in this category, a number of requirements will be presented to the candidate. For example, by age, health, by the amount of funds available (or funds in the form of investments in Australia), by the level of knowledge of English.

It will be necessary to provide documents confirming that the candidate has a successful business management experience, and for the intended business activity in Australia, be prepared to provide a business plan and other documents confirming the validity of the plans.

Australia needs immigration of businessmen and investors, like many other countries: foreign entrepreneurs and investors provide an inflow of capital, create jobs, and make up for the shortage of goods and services on the market. Before immigration, a businessman must analyze the local market, negotiate with potential partners, states and territories, and, if necessary, draw up a business plan.

When everything is ready, you need to submit an Expression of Interest and wait for an invitation to apply for a visa. A visa can also be obtained for investments in the Australian economy. For both categories of candidates – businessmen and investors – there are visas of the same subclass.

Requirements for obtaining visas for businessmen and investors

Be under the age of 55. The Migration Agency allows exceptions if the state / territory needs the prospective business;

Have proven professional and business experience;

For visa 188, collect at least 65 points in the Points Test;

Own or operate a business in Australia for 4 years, or

Intend to open a business in Australia, have at least USD 740,300 in accounts and provide a detailed business plan, or

Keep investments from 1,110,450 USD in Australia.

Immigration process for businessmen and investors

Submitting an Expression of Interest to obtain state or territory support (sponsorship) to start a business. Support will also be needed for those who have already done business in the country;

Proof of professional qualifications and experience;

Obtaining an invitation for a visa;

Medical examination;

Collecting documents and applying for a visa;

Submission of biometric data by invitation;

Pending decision – the processing time varies in each individual case;

Receiving the result by e-mail;

Printing visa data and leaving for Australia;

Registration of a permanent visa 888 after a few years (the period varies depending on individual conditions).

Family visa

This type of visa can be obtained if you are officially married or are going to marry an Australian citizen, if your child or parent is a citizen of the country, or if you are in a long-term close relationship (live together) with one of the citizens countries. In this case, you do not need to confirm your knowledge of English or professional experience.

In addition, Australia recognizes both heterosexual and same-sex relationships. Please note, however, that your spouse, partner or close relative may be required to provide financial support after moving to the country, and the visa application itself must be submitted prior to arriving in Australia.

This is the easiest way to immigrate to Australia and does not require knowledge of the language, education or professional experience. For marriage immigration, you will need to obtain a special bride / groom visa – such a visa is needed to enter the country and marry a citizen or resident of the country. After that, you can easily obtain a visa for permanent residence in Australia. Australians also recognize same-sex marriage.

Requirements for obtaining marriage visas

18+ years old;

The willingness of the spouse / partner to sponsor the applicant;

Health certificate that meets Australian standards;

No previous visa refusals in Australia;

No debt to Australia.

Student visa

To immigrate to Australia, you can go there to study with a student visa and, after graduation, find a job and stay there. The student visa is given to pupils of schools and students of professional educational institutions and universities.

After graduation, a foreign graduate can obtain a graduate visa for employment. To obtain an Australian student visa, you must first enroll in an educational institution and receive confirmation of enrollment.

After obtaining a visa, the student can enter the country and start studying. The cost of a student visa starts from 426 USD and depends on the level of study and other factors – you can calculate the cost for yourself using a special price calculator.

Australia is the most expensive country to study in, according to an HSBC study. A year at a local university will cost about 24 thousand US dollars, another 18 thousand will have to be spent on living. The government website Study in Australia gives a slightly more optimistic range of prices.

There is a visa for those who are outside the country, but want to obtain asylum. Also, a separate subclass of visas is provided for those who arrived in the country illegally.

People who have left their home country and are unable or unwilling to return to it due to the fact or risk of persecution can apply for asylum in Australia. In doing so, the applicant must provide physical evidence that will convince Australia to provide him with protection. A refugee can apply for a visa from another country or from Australia.

Getting jobs in Australia for expats in 2021 – that will be the topic of today’s article.

Before introducing this article, if you are interested in our core services which are expat financial, insurance and mortgages, you can contact me here.

The best time to consider your financial situation is when you are moving to a new country.

Introduction

Despite the lack of qualified specialists in Australia, the chances of finding a job largely depend on the candidate – on his level of English, professional skills, self-presentation skills, knowledge, subtleties, and nuances of the local labor market, and, of course, on activity and perseverance. In this article, we will show you how to look for a job in Australia, being an expat.

Australia is a country of immigrants and here they have always been loyal to visitors. 68% of all migrants come to the country on employment programs. Work in Australia is paid at a decent level, especially for highly sought-after professionals.

You should know that the Australian economy is based on three areas: agriculture, mining, and energy. Australia is one of the countries that have rich resources of grain, sugar, wool, meat, and wine. Here are some of the world’s largest deposits of bauxite, iron ore, zinc, lead.

The presence of such natural resources as uranium, coal, gas is the basis of the country’s energy. Accordingly, specialists in the mentioned industries will always be in demand. Despite the introduction of automation and the latest technology, the number of jobs in Australia has increased by about 1 million over the past decade. Therefore, the Green Continent is one of the most popular professional immigration destinations.

Unemployment is comparatively low here. Secondary education graduates are the hardest to find work in Australia. Unemployment among them is 7%. But among those who graduated from Australian universities and specialized professional courses, the indicator is 2.9 and 4.2%, respectively.

A significant part of the continent’s population are descendants of settlers and yesterday’s immigrants. The authorities issue hundreds of thousands of work visas every year.

Despite the high competition, it is quite possible for foreigners to find a suitable job. Getting a job in agriculture or the service industry is relatively easy there. However, rather high requirements are imposed on qualified specialists applying for high salaries. However, only experience and education will help you take a prestigious and promising vacancy.

Not everyone can get a qualified job in Australia, since this country puts forward considerable requirements for candidates for certain positions. It doesn’t take much work to get an unskilled job. The country gladly accepts people who, for a low pay (by Australian standards), are able to do work that does not require additional knowledge or skills.

The country offers in 2021 a wide list of vacancies that will enable an immigrant to earn good money. However, in order to get this or that job, you need to know that Australian employers are very meticulous about the choice of employees.

Therefore, before you go to earn money in this country, you should find out what requirements are put forward by Australian entrepreneurs to people who want to work in any state of Australia.

General requirements for a foreigner for a work visa:

In order to get to Australia for work, a person must meet these criteria, as well as fulfill the following conditions:

Applicant has to be under 45 years of age at the moment of application.

The person must know English at the Vocational English level or higher, but not lower.

Applicant should have a diploma that proves his studies and higher or incomplete higher education

The applicant’s occupation must be on the official list of occupations, which can be viewed on the Australian Department of Migration website.

A person must present his work book containing a record that he really worked in the declared profession, and for at least one year.

In case all these basic requirements are met, a work visa will be issued to an applicant. Emigration from the country will be carried out and the person will be able to work in Australia.

How to get a work visa?

You can only work in Australia if you have a qualifying work visa. There are several categories of work visas in Australia for temporary and seasonal work, as well as for work with the possibility of obtaining a residence permit.

In general, the process of finding a job and obtaining a work visa outside Australia looks like this:

Assessment of qualifications from ANZSCO – Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations. Your diploma may be required for assessment.

Then, you need to find an employer willing to hire you.

Pass all stages of the interview and receive a job offer.

Pass IELTS or other internationally recognized English test for the required score.

Apply for a work visa and wait for a response from the officer. The processing time may take 5-12 months.

This process is not as simple as it might seem at first glance since there are a number of requirements that apply to both the employee and the employer. So the employer must have permission to sponsor foreign workers, the vacancy must be on the list of in-demand in Australia and be included in the list of qualified professions. The employee must also be qualified in the Skilled Professions List (SOL) and meet the requirements for educational attainment, work experience, and English language proficiency.

With this in mind, employees can often face some difficulties, such as:

Many of the candidates do not have a good enough level of English to successfully pass online interviews and pass IELTS, as well as write their resume correctly.

Employers usually prefer to see a candidate in person for an interview and are not willing to wait six months for him to obtain a visa and be able to start work.

Local work experience and letters of recommendation from previous employers are also critical to the employer.

Getting Australia work permit

A huge plus of the Australian immigration system is that all documents are submitted online, including a visa. The Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs of Australia issues the following types of work permits:

For non-permanent work with an invitation from the company, it is valid for 4 years.

For temporary work for the provision of services, valid for up to 6 weeks.

For internships, participation in international cultural exchange programs.

For permanent employment.

To start the process, the employer must submit an application to the Immigration Department for a permit to employ a foreign worker. At this stage, the sponsor must obtain the approval of the officials. He prepares a detailed report on his company, a list, and a description of the duties of the hired employee.

After obtaining the consent of the authorities, the foreigner proceeds to apply for a work visa. To do this, prepare the following documents:

foreign passport;

4 photographs 3.5 × 4.5 cm;

completed visa application form;

original and copy of the working permit;

an invitation letter from the company;

information about the employer;

work book;

diplomas of education;

language certificates;

medical insurance policy under the eMedical system;

references from past employers;

documents on property ownership;

bank statement.

The applicant can be summoned for a personal interview at the consular section of the embassy. During the interview, the applicant must prove that they have no immigration intent. If the employee is already in Australia, they apply for a visa there through their employer.

It is important to remember that employment without a work visa is fraught with deportation from the country and the deprivation of the foreigner’s right to enter Australia.

An important stage of employment in Australia is the recognition of the diploma (Migration Skills Assessment). The decision depends on the Australian professional association for your specialty (doctors, engineers, etc.). For the recognition procedure, it is necessary to collect a package of documents in advance:

Passport;

Diploma;

Confirmation of work experience in the specialty work book, certificate from work, 2 personal income tax;

Language certificate;

Labor autobiography in English, with a description of 3 professional projects that the applicant worked on.

Everyone applying for a job in Australia passes a competitive selection (Skill Select). To do this, each candidate fills out an online questionnaire on the Embassy’s website (in the same account where applications for a work visa are submitted). The form is called EOI (Expression of Interest). Based on the survey, you will be assigned points that will determine your chances.

Types of work permits

For immigrants, as well as those wishing to come to Australia to work from other CIS countries, there are the following subspecies of work visas:

Intermittent work (workshop);

Temporary toil;

Work on separate plans (internship, practice);

Emigration for emigrant workers – specific specialists.

Which employer can sponsor you?

An application for a work permit in Australia is made by an employer. Sponsorship can be of two types:

Standard business sponsorship – when a company hires a limited number of foreigners. To hire new employees, you must submit a separate application.

Qualified sponsorship – when a large company intends to accept an unlimited number of employees from abroad. This right is granted for 2 years, then it can be extended for a period of 1 year. This does not change the standard requirements for each specific candidate.

The company must be physically present in Australia and operate legally: pay taxes, renew licenses on time. If the company is located outside the country, it must send a sponsorship application to the nearest consulate. The sponsor must be the direct employer of the foreigner being hired, mediation is not permitted.

The sponsor must prove that recruiting workers from overseas will benefit the local economy, help create new jobs and enhance Australia’s international trade links. Also, sponsorship should lead to the development of new technologies and scarce specialties.

The employer provides the state authorities with a package of documents that includes:

Annual balance sheet and audit report;

Financial statement;

Tax reporting;

Information about the staff;

Promotional materials about products or services.

Companies take a responsible approach to requesting the right to sponsorship because its consideration costs more than $ 3 thousand. In case of refusal, the money will not be returned.

Professional visas and General Skilled Migration program

Settlement admission programs are developed by the Australian Department of Immigration (DIBP). General Skilled Migration is a government professional immigration program in Australia (abbreviated as GSM). Within its framework, professional visas of 3 types are issued:

Independent (subclass 189) – for those whose specialty was included in the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).

Skilled Nominated – for people who did not complete the independent program, but their specialty is in demand in one of the regions and is included in the regional Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL).

Skilled Regional Sponsored – for specialists in demand in the regions who will be sponsored by their relatives and have an invitation from the employer.

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa – temporary work visas. Issued for up to 4 years. The required level of language proficiency is 5 points according to the IELTS system. After 2 years, you can reissue for an ENS resident visa. You can bring your family with you. There is also a short-term Working Holiday program where you can apply for a 1 year work visa.

Each applicant goes through the SkillSelect system, that is, selection according to skills, age, education, work experience, knowledge of the English language. Points are awarded for each point. So, for a visa of subclass 189, the minimum number of points is 65.

Wages and taxes

The minimum wage rates are updated every year. This indicator is monitored by a special commission – Fair Work Comission. In 2019, the minimum wage in Australia is AUD 18.93 per hour of work.

This amounts to about 720 AUD per week. Australia ranks first in the world in terms of minimum hourly wages, ahead of Luxembourg, New Zealand, and France. For some categories of unskilled workers, rates are provided below this minimum. According to statistics for 2017, the average salary in the country is 1191.5 AUD per week.

The taxation system for the working population is quite clear and transparent here. Income tax is charged depending on the amount of remuneration:

Up to 18,200 AUD per year – 0%.

18201-37000 – 19%.

37001-87000 – 32.5%.

87001-180000 – 37%.

Over 180001 – 45%.

For working immigrants, taxes are different:

From 0 to 87,000 – 32.5%.

87001-180000 – 37%.

More than 180001 – 45%.

You can calculate the exact amount of payroll tax on the Australian Tax Administration portal using a special online service.

In-demand professions and specialties in Australia

The main source to look for on this subject is the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) occupation codes in demand. The list is constantly updated, depending on the situation on the labor market. Therefore, it is better to watch the current version on the official website.

Qualified specialists with extensive experience in their specialty and with excellent knowledge of the English language will always be in demand. This is especially true for engineers, programmers, doctors who can receive up to 5500 AUD per month. Employers are very responsible for the selection of new employees. Therefore, high demands are placed on the applicant in terms of education, skills, and work experience.

The demand for unskilled labor without knowledge of the language and availability of special skills is also high. The social sector (caring for children and the elderly), construction, transport, agricultural industries, as well as the processing industry are experiencing a shortage of such personnel. In a particular state, the list of professions may differ in its nuances. For such work in Australia, they pay an average of 1600-2500 AUD per month. However, the salary may be higher for those who, in the process of work, take language courses and additional training in the profession.

Cleaning ladies, maids, dishwashers receive an average of 1800 AUD, waiters, food haulers – 2200, shop assistants and handymen at a construction site – within 2500, social workers – 1500.

Truck drivers have always been and will be in demand, they receive about 2000 AUD. For the first 3 months, they can work with their driver’s license, but then they need to obtain an Australian license and take advanced training courses. Since the courses take advantage of the English language, you must provide an IELTS certificate with an average score of at least 5.0. There is an opportunity to prove your rights by passing a driving test.

Farms offer a lot of vacancies. Many of them are engaged in sheep breeding. The salary here is about 20 AUD per hour, but more for qualified specialists (agronomists, veterinarians, technicians). Seasonal work for a period of up to 3 months does not usually require knowledge of the language and professional skills. This sector is in demand for handymen, crop pickers, farmworkers, bricklayers, drivers, plasterers.

The highest salaries in the country are received by miners and workers in the mining industry – from 80 to 240 thousand AUD per year. Doctor and nurse are prestigious and highly paid vacancies (from 80 to 150 thousand AUD per year). Managers and management companies receive from 50 to 300 thousand AUD per year.

Finding jobs through sites
